Republican floods #NJGov with digital ads as Phil Murphy campaign...doesn’t
Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign has outspent the incumbent Dem. governor ~6:1 online as the race has tightened
Governor Phil Murphy won his 2017 race by 15 points, Democrats represent 10 out of New Jersey’s 12 congressional districts, and President Joe Biden won the state by 16 points last year. Recent polling also favors the current governor in next Tuesday’s election, although by a narrowing margin. However, none of that appears to be stopping former New Jersey Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli from spending big on digital ads to win a governorship that was previously occupied by Republican Chris Christie until 2018.
Meanwhile, Team Murphy appears to be not concerned. So far, they’ve spent $207,320 on Facebook and Google ads since March, which is just shy of how much Ciattarelli spent on the platforms just last week alone. Here’s how the campaigns’ spending on the two platforms compare week-over-week:
