DeSantis running new digital ads nationwide
Ahead of a possible presidential campaign, the Florida Governor buys Facebook + Google ads to reach conservatives across the country
On Saturday, December 17th, Ron Desantis’ paid media operation kicked back into gear for the first time since the Florida Governor coasted to re-election on November 8th.
Friends of Ron DeSantis, the Governor’s associated political committee, launched new Facebook, Instagram, and Google ads targeting conservatives nationwide - and has spent at least $7,000 in the campaign’s first few days.
It’s unusual for a term-limited politician to continue running fundraising and email acquisition ads after winning re-election - unless he or she is planning to seek higher office. DeSantis is widely rumored to be planning a run for President in 2024, and will need to quickly build a large base of grassroots supporters to fund that effort.
DeSantis is far from the only potential 2024 contender already running ads to build a digital army. Mike Pompeo has been aggressively targeting 2024 early states, and Mike Pence, Donald Trump, Kristi Noem, and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez have all run digital ads boosting their own prospects.
