Democrats spend big with anti-GOP Facebook pages in Illinois
“The Real Richard Irvin,” “Richard Irvin’s Real Record,” and “Darren Bailey’s Conservative Agenda” have spent over $700,000 on targeted Facebook ads
Illinois Republicans logging on to Facebook in the past few months are now undoubtedly familiar with some of the negative attack ads in their primary election for Governor. But this cycle, the hundreds of thousands of dollars behind those digital ads are coming from Democrats.
Both the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) and the JB Pritzker campaign have funneled a massive, if not unprecedented, amount of cash into creating and leveraging several different branded pages on Facebook, which are meant to persuade GOP primary voters against Republican Gubernatorial candidate Richard Irvin in his fight against Darren Bailey.
