A QAnon Republican wins unexpected victory in TX special election

On Tuesday night, Republican Mayra Flores beat Democrat Dan Sanchez in a special election to fill the congressional seat of retiring Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX) in the Rio Grande valley. The electorate in Texas’ 34th congressional district is more than 84% Hispanic and leans Democratic, making Flores’ victory kind of a big deal. 

Given those facts of the district, if you thought that means Flores would be a polished, moderate Republican, you’d be mistaken.
